Top 8, Schlossberg 33, Maria Alm, 5761, Austria

Situated in a quiet location with fantastic views overlooking Maria Alm, the red piste on Natrun ski mountain and the Steinernen Meer range but only 10 minutes walk from the village centre.

Maria Alm is a picture postcard perfect village in the Pinzgau area of Austria, directly below Salzburg. The village has a good range of restaurants and bars, several ski and bike rental shops and two supermarkets. There are several banks in the village, a tourist information office and two bakeries. The main ski lift from the village is the Natrunbahn gondola which takes you to near the summit of Natrun where you can find Tom's Almhut and the Prinzensee swimming reservoir. The surrounding mountains all have excellent huts and restaurants, linked by a fantastic range of ski pistes. The area is also a superb base for a summer holiday with outdoor swimming pools, walking and mountain biking trails, adventure courses, beautiful old villages and towns. The ski lifts run on a rotational basis throughout the spring through to autumn.

In winter, Maria Alm is part of the Hochkoenig ski area with 150km of piste and the large Ski Amade area with 860km. Considered an excellent ski resort for beginners and intermediates, the pistes offer some cruisy and some slightly more challenging runs. Close to home, the ski area stretches across Maria Alm, Aberg, Hintermoos, Hinterthal as far as Dienten and Muhlbach am Hochkoenig. What it gives you is a great range of skiing for all levels, with a good mix of blue, red and black slopes. Snowfall is good, and is supplemented by plenty of snow cannons, using the latest technology to maximise your enjoyment of the mountains. There are also several snowparks with boxes, halfpipes and rails for the more technically advanced boarders or skiers.
